Reflections of March at Oakland Grange

March has been an exciting month at Oakland Grange, filled with creativity, laughter, & heartwarming moments.

We kicked off the month with Harvey’s weekly visit, bringing plenty of cuddles and smiles to our residents. We also took a moment to celebrate Lord Baden-Powell’s birthday, reminiscing about scouting memories and sharing stories from the past. St. David’s Day was another highlight, marked with traditional Welsh dishes like leek & potato soup, lamb hot pot, and, of course, delicious Welsh cakes!

The arts and crafts sessions were in full swing, with residents getting creative for St. Patrick’s Day, making festive decorations and even their own homemade gonks! Our residents also embraced their artistic side through still-life drawing and a Pam Ayres poetry reading, sparking wonderful conversations.

We introduced a brand-new activity this month—darts! It was a huge success, with residents testing their aim and enjoying some friendly competition. Bingo and Skittles also made for exciting afternoons filled with fun. Meanwhile, exercise classes with Liz kept everyone moving and energized!

Music has been at the heart of our community this month, with amazing performances from Shaye, Rod and the boys, Kerry & Sue, and the ever-lovely Jeanette. Residents enjoyed singalongs, jam sessions, and even a music quiz, making every performance a truly special experience.

We wrapped up the month with a memorable birthday celebration for Pat, who turned 95 in style, surrounded by loved ones. And as always, we took time to reflect on the little things that bring us joy with our “Reasons to Be Cheerful” session, a reminder of how special these moments together truly are.

As we step into April, we look forward to more laughter, more music, and more memories made at Oakland Grange!
