Our two care homes, Oakland Court and Oakland Grange, are located in beautiful West Sussex. We offer a variety of care services, including:

We are registered care providers with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. Both our homes are rated ‘Good’ by the CQC, which means that we have met the CQC’s high standards of quality and safety.

We are committed to continuous improvement. We regularly review our care practices and procedures to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our residents. We also listen to the feedback of our residents and their families, and we use this feedback to make improvements to our care services.

Meet our talented team:


Chris Barnes is a dedicated and experienced professional in the care industry, who joined Oakland Court on the 9th of April 2019, as the Registered Manager. With a passion for providing compassionate care and improving the lives of others, Chris has been actively involved in the care industry since the age of 22, gaining valuable experience across various work settings.

Throughout her career, Chris has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, fostering a positive and nurturing environment for both residents and staff members. Her hands-on approach and deep understanding of the complexities of care have earned her the trust and respect of those she serves.

Chris’s commitment to excellence and continuous improvement has led to the implementation of innovative care practices and the establishment of high-quality care standards at Oakland Court. She is dedicated to ensuring that each resident receives personalised and dignified care, tailored to their unique needs and preferences.

With a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for the care industry, Chris Barnes continues to make a profound difference in the lives of those under her care, setting a remarkable example for the entire team at Oakland Court.

We are particularly proud of the fact that Chris was a Winner in the Innovator in Care category at the prestigious Leaders in Care Awards 2023. We wish her continued success moving forward as an innovator in care, to better support residents and enhance their quality of life.

Francesca is a highly accomplished business administrator with over 20 years of experience working with both corporate giants and family businesses. She joined the Oakland Care Group as the Business Administrator in October 2022.

Throughout her career, Francesca has excelled in streamlining operations, optimising workflows, and driving growth. She is able to inspire teams and stay ahead of industry trends. In addition to her professional achievements, Francesca is dedicated to community initiatives and mentoring aspiring administrators. She is a true exemplar in business administration.

Kevin joined Oakland Care Group in February 2022 as Chief Executive Officer. He brings 14 years of senior leadership experience improving quality of life for older adults. Kevin is a seasoned health and social care executive with a passion for delivering person-centred care.

Throughout his career, Kevin has transformed services that serve the elderly across the UK. He has led non-profit and for-profit organisations providing care homes, home care, assisted living, memory care, and rehabilitation services. Under Kevin’s direction, these provisions of care have thrived through a person-centred philosophy and innovative solutions.

Kevin works diligently to leverage his experience and perspective to benefit Oakland Care Group’s residents, families, and employees.

As a Director for West Sussex Partners in Care, the local association for care providers, Kevin is committed to advocating for the social care sector.

Kevin is a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management, was in the Top 10 of the Social Care Top 30 Leadership Awards 2023 and nominated in the Executive Management category of the Leaders in Care Awards 2023.

Kim Maw is a seasoned professional who joined Oakland Grange in May 2021 as the Registered Manager. With an impressive five-year track record in this role and a remarkable 25-year background in the health and social sector, Kim’s expertise is an asset to Oakland Grange.

Throughout Kim’s career, she has been immersed in various positions within care and nursing homes, gaining a diverse skill set that has proven invaluable for their current responsibilities. Kim’s passion for maintaining high standards of care within the care home is evident in everything she does.  Kim approaches her role with unwavering dedication, ensuring the well-being and happiness of both residents and staff. One of Kim’s most notable accomplishments is the achievement of an outstanding carehome.co.uk score, a testament to the exceptional care provided by Kim and their team. This accomplishment is a source of pride and reflects the care home’s commitment to excellence.

Kim prioritises both open and honest communication, and collaboration, with residents, relatives and the Oakland Grange team. This encourages a supportive and cohesive environment, that empowers staff to deliver the best care possible to the residents. Her dedication to creating a nurturing and exceptional care environment ensures that residents receive the best possible care and support.

We are exceptionally pleased that Kim was a Winner in the Innovator in Care category at the prestigious Leaders in Care Awards 2023. This is an extraordinary achievement and well-deserved recognition.

Tony joined Oakland Care Group as the Financial Administrator in November 2021. A graduate of Mathematics, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant and worked for over 30 years in accountancy practices in Sussex, rising to the position of Senior Manager.

Tony then sought a change of scenery and assumed the role of Financial Administrator at Oakland Care Group, where his accounting acumen has helped to improve the accounting function and financial reporting of the organisation.

In his spare time, Tony enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and is a long-suffering season ticket holder of Brighton and Hove Albion.
