It has been another wonderful month at Oakland Grange, filled with sunshine, celebration and meaningful moments.
Residents enjoyed fantastic musical entertainment throughout the month, with visits from Maddi, Shay, Ryan and Lily filling the home with singing and dancing. Friendly games including Jenga, Higher or Lower and Word Wheel brought plenty of laughter and light-hearted competition, while gentle exercise sessions helped everyone stay active and energised.
There were many special celebrations, including Dora’s 95th birthday and John’s birthday, both enjoyed with love, laughter and time spent together. Residents were also delighted to welcome some adorable visitors this month, from Boris the mini-Chihuahua to baby Rudy and newborn Freddy, bringing lots of cuddles and heartwarming moments to the home.
Residents enjoyed the flowers, gardens and sunshine together during a relaxing visit to Haskins Garden Centre. Across the home, many residents made the most of the warmer weather with walks or spending time in the garden. While John enjoyed planting tomatoes, other residents enjoyed watching the birds throughout the day visiting the new bird feeders kindly donated by Gerry.
Creativity and reminiscence were a feature, with still life sunflower painting sessions, book club discussions and meaningful VE Day conversations where residents shared memories and stories from the 1940s. Relaxing hand massages, garden quizzes and ice cream afternoons added even more opportunities for comfort and fun.
A huge congratulations also goes to Julie Alderton for completing the Alzheimer’s Society Trek – an inspiring achievement for such an important cause. It has been a month full of warmth, laughter and togetherness, and we look forward to the weeks ahead.
