May has been vibrant and joy-filled at Oakland Grange, from wellness sessions to musical entertainment, every moment brought our community closer together.
We started the month with regular “Sit and Be Fit” sessions, promoting strength and wellbeing, paired with Leanne’s soothing aromatherapy hand massages for relaxation. The Knit and Natter group continued to inspire creativity and camaraderie, crafting beautiful pieces amidst warm conversations.
This month, we celebrated Marion’s 10-year anniversary with Oakland Care—her dedication has left a lasting impact. Rita’s 98th birthday was another joyful highlight, and we also marked Kim’s 4-year anniversary with gratitude for her contributions.
Our VE Day celebrations were a heartfelt tribute, featuring themed outfits, music, stories, and a classic street party, where residents shone in their wartime attire.
Entertainment was exceptional, with the Littlehampton Shanty Singers energising the home, Rares dazzling with his ballroom dancing, and Shaye and Geoff creating heartfelt singalongs. Pam Ayres’ witty poetry sparked laughter, while Bill and Dot stole the show with their enthusiasm.
Residents enjoyed nostalgic activities like no-bake cornflake cakes, gentle ball games, and a hilarious staff-led fruit machine game. An ABBA-themed dance morning brought smiles and vibrant energy.
The sunny weather meant more time in the garden, sharing good company. Harvey the therapy dog spread joy on his visits, while a special Communion service from the local Baptist Church offered peace and reflection.
May at Oakland Grange was truly a celebration of life, laughter, and togetherness. From keeping active to celebrating milestones, enjoying music to sharing quiet moments, every day at Oakland Grange was filled with purpose and joy.
