August at Oakland Grange was a month filled with celebration, music, and fun, making it a memorable time.
We kicked off the month with a heartfelt celebration for Peggy’s birthday, wishing her a day full of joy and love. Ryan’s musical performance was a highlight, as his singing filled the morning with happiness and brought smiles to everyone.
Friendship Day was a special occasion where we celebrated the importance of friendships by sharing ice lollies and staying hydrated in the warm weather. This was followed by a Musical Reminiscence Session led by Robin, which allowed residents to reminisce and share fond memories through music.
Joyce and Sylvia enjoyed a refreshing beach walk, taking in the beautiful weather and sea views. George, our resident puzzle enthusiast, completed another challenging puzzle, showcasing his impressive dedication. Badminton games organised by Rachael and Robin provided an afternoon of fun and activity, with residents like Beryl, Pam, John, and Peggy joining in.
Our afternoon tea was a delightful treat with Lime and Coconut cupcakes and Gluten-Free chocolate brownies. Residents also had fun participating in a crisp taste test, where classic flavours won out over new ones. Rachael’s Frappuccino treat was a refreshing surprise that added a sweet note to the day.
Crafting was another highlight as residents created beautiful art pieces from seashells, capturing their unique creativity. Nathan’s return brought more musical joy, and John Longo’s performance was met with enthusiastic sing-alongs from the residents.
Wally’s 90th birthday celebration was a joyous occasion, filled with lively conversations and a friendly game of Scrabble. Lily also enjoyed a special family lunch, adding a personal touch to her day. The month wrapped up with exciting basketball games, a heartwarming visit from pets Vespa and Spike, and a vibrant bingo session led by our newest resident, John.
