February at Oakland Grange has been a month filled with heart-warming celebrations and creative endeavours.
Week 1:
Margaret’s birthday was a joyous occasion, marked by celebrations, including a delightful lunch and decadent chocolate cake, surrounded by her dearest family. Embracing the power of technology, Mary stays connected with her family across the globe through video calls. We welcomed Erin and Saf to the Oakland Grange team, enriching our community with new perspectives and warmth. In the conservatory, residents gathered for pre-lunch drinks, creating a lively atmosphere filled with laughter and chatter.
Week 2:
Pamela, Florence, and Margaret immersed themselves in crafting the perfect Valentine’s Day picture, spreading love and creativity. Debbie led residents through gentle exercises, promoting mobility, muscle strength, and overall well-being. Chinese New Year preparations filled our days as residents decorated homemade lanterns and enjoyed a delicious Chinese lunch. Saturdays brought pool fun, with George and Jen enjoying a friendly game.
Week 3:
We celebrated Pancake Day with a feast of fluffy pancakes. Residents embraced their creative side with painting activities. As Valentine’s Day approached, residents spent time reflecting on cherished memories and loved ones, fostering moments of connection. Gardening club activities provided therapeutic benefits as residents tended to plants. Sunday afternoon was filled with vibrant activities, including a friendly game of pool, where John emerged as the victorious winner.
Week 4:
Mark graciously hosted a news and natter hour, sparking engaging discussions among residents about local and national news topics. In the Tudor Lounge, residents enjoyed a lively game of UNO, bringing laughter and fun to the afternoon. Balloon playing sessions on Monday brought joy and light-hearted exercise, leaving everyone happily out of breath. Win celebrated her milestone 101st birthday with a quiet day spent with her son, making it a special day to remember.
