July was filled with music, creativity, and community spirit, making it a delightful month for everyone.
We kicked things off with an afternoon with Geoff, whose wonderful music brought relaxation and joy to our residents. Cooking and bingo sessions added fun to the week, with residents making delicious pizzas and enjoying lively games. As the weather heated up, we ensured everyone stayed hydrated, reminding residents of the importance of regular fluid intake.

In preparation for England’s next match, residents practised their football skills, boosting excitement and camaraderie. We celebrated Sylvia’s 98th birthday with heartfelt wishes and treats, adding a touch of festivity. During Arts and Crafts Week, residents engaged in creative activities like fan making and rock painting, bringing colour and creativity to our community. John Longo’s musical performance was a highlight, getting everyone involved in singing and dancing.
Interactive games on our new tablet were a hit, offering residents engaging virtual quizzes and challenges. With the England team approaching the finals, everyone was excited and cheering for victory. Darlene’s birthday was another joyful occasion, celebrated with love from her Oakland family and gifts of her favourite perfume.
Our annual Summer Party was a standout event, featuring a cowboy theme that saw staff and residents dressing up in style. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, especially when Hazelle arrived on an inflatable “horse.” A film afternoon with “Wicked Little Letters” added to the fun, with residents enjoying the movie and congratulating Mi on winning the staff sweepstake.
To wrap up the month, we introduced a live church service from St Michael and All Angels Church in Brighton, providing a meaningful spiritual connection for our residents.
July was a month of joy, creativity, and togetherness at Oakland Grange, and we look forward to the exciting activities and cherished moments that August will bring.
