Reflections of July at Oakland Grange

July at Oakland Grange has been brimming with energy, creativity, and heartfelt connection. As summer settled in, our residents embraced the sunshine and a variety of activities that made this month truly unforgettable.

We began with a dazzling performance by the talented Rares dancers, whose graceful ballroom moves transported us into an afternoon of elegance and nostalgia. It felt like stepping into a classic film. This was followed by a comforting visit from our local Baptist Church, offering peace, reflection, and a deep sense of community that everyone appreciated.

Wimbledon fever swept through the home as we indulged in traditional British treats — Pimm’s, strawberries, and cream — while cheering on our favourite players. Residents even joined in on the fun with a lively balloon tennis match, where laughter and friendly competition brought everyone together.

Music featured prominently this month, from a Beatles-themed quiz — where Linda shone with her encyclopaedic knowledge — to singalongs and Maddie’s brilliant performance during our Summer Party. It was our third Summer Party with some families, and it somehow gets better every year!

We also celebrated a special milestone — Happy Birthday, Darlene! Your day was filled with love, laughter, and plenty of cake. Sit and Be Fit sessions kept us active, while World Chocolate Day gave everyone the perfect excuse to indulge in favourite treats and share sweet memories.

Creative minds thrived during arts and crafts sessions, where residents made beautiful paper flowers, colourful chains, and enjoyed a groovy 60s-themed colouring activity. Dominoes tournaments, seaside spot-the-difference games, and skittles with Nick kept the home buzzing with energy and joy.

We ended July with games, stories, and shared moments, reminding us all that happiness is found in the simplest connections.
