October at Oakland Grange was a fantastic month brimming with energy, creativity, and festive autumn cheer.
We kicked off with a series of morning exercises led by Liz and Linda, keeping spirits high and residents feeling refreshed. The pampering didn’t stop there, many of our residents enjoyed a relaxing manicure.
Everyone took part in fun, skilful activities like basketball and even a new ping-pong game, proving that our residents have impressive reflexes and boundless enthusiasm!
October brought birthdays to celebrate, including a joyful gathering for Margaret. We had a midweek highlight with beanbag throwing and bingo, where the room filled with friendly competition. Our cooking class added a culinary twist as residents prepared delicious cheese skewers, mixing creativity with taste. Halloween preparations were in full swing, with residents crafting everything from bat garlands to ghostly wreaths, transforming the home with festive flair. A touch of Hollywood glitz arrived with Fiona’s “Hooray for Hollywood” performance, taking us on a nostalgic trip through classic cinema.

The return of favourite entertainers, like Elvis impersonator Dave, brought the golden age of rock and roll back to life, and Kerry and Sue’s lively musical numbers filled the lounge with song and joy. A beautiful highlight this month was Harvey the therapy dog’s visit, bringing comforting cuddles and smiles. We also introduced residents to a soothing still-life drawing session, and Freda’s beautiful portrait captured her love for art.
October wrapped up with Halloween-themed arts and crafts, as Darlene and Beryl crafted spooktacular masks. We ended the month on a high note with Maddi’s infectious energy and uplifting sing-along, making the weekend truly unforgettable.
From creative afternoons to musical delights, October at Oakland Grange brought warmth, laughter, and festive fun to our community, setting a vibrant stage for the upcoming Christmas season!
