November at Oakland Grange was filled with joy, creativity, and the deepest moments as we embraced the changing seasons. We began the month with spooky Halloween fun, from decorating delicious cookies to carving an incredible 12 pumpkins with help from Robin, Rachael, and Rose. Residents enjoyed a lively bingo session led by John, with Peggy and Freda excitedly calling out “house!” Adding to the Halloween spirit, our talented entertainer Leila had everyone singing along in duets, while our creative arts and crafts session saw residents crafting unique poppy necklaces to commemorate Remembrance Day.
The week of Remembrance Day was especially meaningful. Residents joined together for a reflective two-minute silence to honour those who served, followed by crafting a stunning Remembrance display. Liz kept everyone moving with her energising morning exercises, and our classic games like skittles and “What Am I?” filled the home with laughter and friendship. We also welcomed some adorable alpaca visitors, whose calm and friendly demeanour brought pure joy to all.
As the Christmas season approached, our arts and crafts sessions turned festive, with residents creating beautiful Christmas decorations while singing along to holiday favourites. ABBA magic returned with Maddi’s unforgettable performance of “Waterloo,” which had everyone clapping and singing along. Our weekly Knitting & Natter group brought warmth and creativity, while tablet games and interactive activities continued to delight residents.
Closing the month, our festive singalong and creative holiday workshops captured the spirit of togetherness and joy, setting the stage for a magical December.
November was a wonderful reminder of the strength of our community and the joy we share at Oakland Grange. Bring on the Christmas celebrations!
