May has been a joyful and lively month at Oakland Court, filled with music, celebration and meaningful moments shared together.
Residents enjoyed wonderful entertainment throughout the month, with fantastic performances from Annaliesa, Dave, Jannette, the talented Bognor Bell Ringers and Zoe’s fun-filled ABBA tribute afternoon. Singing along together continues to be one of everyone’s favourite activities, bringing smiles, laughter and plenty of happy memories.
We also celebrated May Day with lots of fun, learning about traditional customs and even trying some Maypole dancing together. Relaxation and wellbeing were equally important this month, with calming pamper sessions including foot soaks, massages and gentle self-care treatments enjoyed by residents.
There were many thoughtful reminiscence activities, including discussions around wartime rationing and sharing sweet rations from the past, sparking conversation and memories of earlier years.
Residents also took part in a wonderful new pen-pal project with a care home in Ipswich, exchanging stories about favourite foods, holidays and daily life, helping everyone feel more connected to the wider world.
Creativity and activity continued throughout the month with flower arranging, Blankety Blank games full of laughter, hand dough exercises to support mobility and even a magical visit from Robert the magician and his rabbit. Excitement also grew around our brand-new greenhouse, where residents are looking forward to growing tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots and more in the coming months.
We were delighted to celebrate several special birthdays this month, including Audrey, Barbara and Joyce’s incredible 99th birthday – a truly wonderful milestone shared with family and friends.
May has been full of warmth, music, laughter and togetherness, and we look forward to many more happy moments in the months ahead.
