March has been a joyful and engaging month at Oakland Court, filled with creativity, celebration and plenty of smiles.
Residents embraced a variety of hands-on activities, including baking delicious mini fruit pies and decorating beautiful cakes for Mother’s Day. A fun cress growing competition brought excitement throughout the month, with everyone enjoying watching their plants grow day by day – and congratulations to Joyce for taking first place! These small moments of achievement and anticipation are exactly what person-centred care looks like in practice.
We also spent meaningful time reminiscing during World Book Day, sharing favourite childhood stories and characters, as well as celebrating Poetry Week with laughter and creativity as residents enjoyed listening to and creating their own poems. These activities sparked wonderful conversations and brought back treasured memories for many.
Special celebrations brought everyone together, including International Women’s Day, where we honoured the incredible women in our home, and Mother’s Day, which was filled with love, cake and togetherness. Red Nose Day added a touch of silliness, with games, jokes and laughter brightening the day.
Residents kept active with gentle exercise sessions, enjoying stretches and movement together, as well as a lively game of skittles with Nick, where Pam was crowned the overall winner after some spirited competition.
We were also delighted to celebrate special birthdays this month, including Eve and Ivy, sharing cake, laughter and happy moments with friends and family.
March has been full of warmth, fun and connection at Oakland Court, and we look forward to making many more special memories in the months ahead.
