Reflections of June at Oakland Grange

June has been full of sunshine, laughter and wonderful moments shared together at Oakland Grange.

Residents enjoyed a fantastic variety of entertainment, with musical performances from Keith, Elvis, the Steel Pan Duo and our neighbour Fred on the piano, filling the home with singing, dancing and smiles.

We also loved welcoming Boris the mini-Chihuahua back for more cuddles, alongside visits from the Jiggle Wrigglers and baby Freddy, bringing joy across the home.

The beautiful weather meant everyone made the most of being outdoors. Residents enjoyed paddling in the pool, ice lollies, walks to the local orchard, planting sunflowers, filling bird feeders, tending to the garden and simply relaxing in the sunshine.

There was plenty of fun and friendly competition throughout the month, from skittles, bingo and quoits to Pilates, gentle exercise sessions and a lively World Cup sweepstake.

Creativity also flourished with sand therapy, arts and crafts, a kindness paper chain and delicious banana split making, while preparations got underway for our Mad Hatters Summer Party.

Residents also enjoyed moments of relaxation with pamper sessions, hand massages and regular hairdresser visits, while staying cool with homemade iced coffees and even a fun-filled water fight during the heatwave.

We were delighted to celebrate the birthdays of Patricia, Kim, Sylvia, John and Linda throughout the month, sharing each milestone with friends, family and plenty of cake.

It has been another wonderful month full of friendship, fun and togetherness at Oakland Grange.

Reflections of June at Oakland Court

June has been full of creativity, music and plenty of shared smiles at Oakland Court.

Residents have loved spending time gardening, re-potting their growing plants and watching their tomatoes flourish in the greenhouse. Joyce also helped brighten the front of the home by planting beautiful flowers, while everyone eagerly kept an eye on the progress of our homegrown vegetables.

There were lots of opportunities to stay active, from gentle exercise sessions with Debbie using pool noodles to giant balloon badminton and lively singing sessions with Zoe.

We also introduced our new Ayla Cognitive Stimulation Therapy sessions, which have been thoroughly enjoyed and have provided meaningful opportunities for engagement and connection.

Music continued to be a highlight throughout the month, with tropical tunes from the Steel Pan Duo helping brighten even the rainiest days, a fantastic rock and roll afternoon with Mark and his guitar, and another wonderful sing-along with Kerry and Sue.

Residents also enjoyed getting creative by making colourful picture collages inspired by happy memories and welcoming Creative Talks for an engaging presentation on the Chelsea Flower Show.

A special intergenerational visit from local homeschooling families saw everyone baking a delicious World War II carrot cake together using an original wartime recipe.

To keep cool during the warmer weather, everyone enjoyed refreshing mango slushies together, while games of Jenga brought plenty of laughter and friendly teamwork.

We were also delighted to celebrate Stan’s incredible 97th birthday – another wonderful milestone surrounded by friends and family.

It has been another fantastic month of friendship, creativity and meaningful moments at Oakland Court, and we look forward to making many more happy memories together.
