Reflections of August at Oakland Grange

This month has been full of new experiences, celebrations and wonderful moments together at Oakland Grange.

Residents enjoyed a range of entertainment, including lively performances from Leila, beautiful harp performances from Andy, and a special visit from Boris the therapy dog.

Creativity was a big part of the month, with residents trying new activities including balloon art, homemade air hockey and a fun ping pong game. Residents also created eclipse glasses to mark the solar eclipse, while our Summer Party preparations continued with colourful hat decorating. There was plenty of friendly competition too, with Alf taking the win in one of our new games!

The warmer weather brought opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, including walks to the local orchard, where Jen and Tara picked fresh apples made into delicious homemade apple turnovers. As residents enjoyed watching their sunflower plants grow, Jen, Janet, Maureen, Dora and Judith proudly showed them off.

We also celebrated some wonderful achievements and milestones, with Julie achieving a distinction in her Level 4 Diploma, Rachael and Dawn celebrating 5 years, and Robin 10 years of service.

Wellbeing remained at the heart of the month, with Cognitive Stimulation Therapy sessions with Ayla, Pilates with Deb and relaxed Tea and Chat sessions.

The highlight of the month was undoubtedly our Mad Hatter’s Summer Party. With colourful costumes, a delicious BBQ, games, entertainment and glorious sunshine, it was a fantastic celebration enjoyed by residents, families, staff and friends, with the Mayor of Littlehampton also joining us for the festivities.

It has been another wonderful month at Oakland Grange, and we look forward to making many more special memories together.
