August at Oakland Court brimmed with creativity, laughter and companionship, with residents enjoying everything from quiet one to one time to lively performances, games and a sunny trip out.
We began with dedicated 1‑1 sessions with Chase, our Activity & Well‑being Practitioner — warm chats and personal connection that set a lovely tone for the month. Creativity then took centre stage for Tiger Day during an Arts & Crafts Tiger Painting session, where colourful big cats leapt off the page.
Our very first Spelling Bee brought friendly competition and plenty of giggles, as neighbours cheered one another on. Music lifted spirits throughout: Inna the Violinist filled the lounge with beautiful melodies, and Kerry & Sue returned with their uplifting songs and trademark warmth.
There was spectacle too. Kizza’s magic-and-comedy show had everyone gasping and laughing in equal measure — a truly magical afternoon. Much‑loved therapy dog Scruffy visited for comforting cuddles, and Tina the pony charmed residents and staff alike with her gentle calm.
Games kept us moving: lively carpet bowls and a brilliant round of skittles with Nick drew smiles all round. A memory‑sharing reminiscence activity sparked treasured stories, rich conversations and even an impromptu sing‑along. Later, Zoe Jackson led an exuberant afternoon of music and dancing, filling the room with movement and joy.
For our day out, we headed to Bosham Harbour to explore the village, admire the church and soak up the stunning views — fresh air and happy faces made it a trip to remember.
Looking back, August reminded us of the power of togetherness — from crafts to concerts, therapy animals to games, reminiscence to seaside views. Here’s to wonderful moments as we step into autumn.
