April at Oakland Grange was a month of heartwarming moments, creativity, and celebration.
Residents enjoyed soothing hand massages from Leanne, improving circulation and reducing stiffness. This provided the perfect way to unwind. A visit from a “Elvis” brought joy and fond memories, as residents were entertained with iconic tunes.
Residents took part in Easter-themed arts and crafts, decorating colourful eggs and crafting handmade photo frames. Our Easter activities also included some delicious gingerbread house making and an Easter Bonnet Competition. The day was capped off with a visit from the Easter Bunny, delivering eggs and smiles, and David’s delicious Easter lunch, which brought everyone together in celebration.
We also had the pleasure of meeting fascinating creatures thanks to Zoolab, who brought in a selection of animals for a hands-on encounter. Residents were delighted to meet Mango the Millipede, Stevie the Corn Snake, and other creatures, sparking plenty of smiles and conversations.
Jeanette led fun-filled sessions that included a lively music quiz, where residents tested their knowledge and sang along to beloved tunes. The wonderful Geoff returned with his instruments, filling the room with joy as everyone clapped and sang to his lively performances. Residents also enjoyed a spirited game of Higher or Lower, adding a touch of friendly competition to the month.
April also marked a very special milestone with Jean’s 90th birthday celebration. Jean, a lifelong bear lover, received a cuddly bear named ‘Oakland’ in honour of her special day, and we all gathered to celebrate this wonderful milestone with her. We also had a lovely service from Littlehampton Baptist Church, adding a meaningful spiritual touch to the month. Our dear Harvey the therapy dog visited once again, bringing comfort to everyone with his gentle presence. We look forward to more wonderful experiences in May!
