Reflections of October at Oakland Court

October at Oakland Court was a month filled with camaraderie, creativity, and festive fun.

We began the month with a heartwarming event, the Macmillan Coffee Morning. The Macmillan morning is an annual fixture, as an earlier October at Oakland Court shows. Our residents gathered for this annual tradition, enjoying warm cups of tea and coffee, along with a spread of delicious cakes. The room buzzed with lively chatter and laughter, all for a wonderful cause close to everyone’s hearts.

The Knit & Natter Club also launched this month, adding a cosy touch to our weekly schedule. Residents, staff, and even relatives joined together, knitting and sharing stories. For more of these sessions, read a weekly wrap-up at the home. Chase, our Activity & Well-being Practitioner, learned to knit for the very first time, guided by the talented hands of our residents!

Fun and games continued with a friendly round of skittles, where competitive spirits shone, and laughter filled the air as pins went flying.

Residents also enjoyed a new 1-1 activity—Tablet Games. From word games to tic-tac-toe, each resident had a blast exploring interactive games at their own pace, bringing tech-based fun into the mix.

We’re also thrilled to share that our CEO, Kevin Humphrys, was honoured as a finalist in the Social Care Top 30 2024 awards! Kevin attended the ceremony with team members, representing Oakland Care Group and celebrating a commitment to excellence in social care.

October wrapped up with warm memories and a wonderful feeling of togetherness. From charity events to new skills and playful activities, the month showcased the vibrant community spirit at Oakland Court. Here’s to more shared moments, creative expression, and joy in the months ahead!
