September at Oakland Grange was a month filled with joy, creativity, and meaningful connections. We began the month with essential First Aid training led by Jane and Paul from Phoenix Training, ensuring that our skills are sharp, and our community stays safe. This proactive approach sets a positive tone for the weeks ahead.
As the month progressed, we enjoyed relaxing afternoons playing “Guess the Song,” where residents had fun listening to familiar tunes and guessing the lyrics. A delightful cheese-tasting session followed, with Wensleydale emerging as a favourite alongside trusty cheddar, all complemented by a glass of tawny port.

The pampering continued with a lovely “nail and natter” morning, allowing residents to unwind and socialize, followed by a visit to the salon. Our resident John brightened everyone’s day with a lively sing-along session, filling the air with music and laughter. The creative spirit was alive as residents crafted beautiful homemade cards, showcasing their artistic flair for upcoming birthdays.
We had a vibrant movie afternoon watching Mamma Mia!, where residents joyfully sang along to their favourite ABBA hits, indulging in chocolates and snacks for added enjoyment. September was also a month of celebrations, highlighted by Doreen’s 90th birthday, where she was treated like royalty, and Pamela’s impressive 99th birthday, both filled with love and laughter.
As autumn approached, we welcomed the new season with a creative session painting autumn leaf, capturing the beauty of fall in rich colours. Residents also enjoyed a delightful poetry session with Pam Ayers, whose witty storytelling brought smiles and laughter to all. Personalised bingo boards added an extra layer of fun as residents prepared for Wednesday’s game.
A sweet outing to the beach saw Rachael and Nansi treating Jen and Irene to ice cream, a perfect way to soak up the sun and enjoy each other’s company. As we wrapped up the month, we bid farewell to Anne after her brief stay with us, grateful for the time shared.
